Background

The Rotary Club of Pursat has been established on 2005 contains 16 members in the first forming and then increase to 25 members, and they are working as School Director, NGO Country Director, Manager, Teacher, Doctor and Nurse. On 25th of February 2006, The Rotary Club of Pursat has registered and accepted by The Rotary International in order to help the Cambodian Villages in which we work become self-sustaining communities where people want to live, with healthy water and facilities, good food, health care and education for the residents, where there is environmental and social responsibility, and employment that allows them to sustain and continually improve their quality of life by our service above self.

In 2012, we registered with Cambodian Ministry of Interior as a local Non-Governmental Organization.

Mission statement

Our mission is to help the Cambodian villages in which we work become self-sustaining communities where people want to live with healthy water and facilities, good food, health care and education for the residents, where there is environmental and social responsibility, and employment that allows them to sustain and continually improve their quality of life.

Vision statement

Our vision is to create a model which is so successful in creating self-sufficiency and quality of life that the village residents in the program will assist Rotary club of Pursat in spreading the model to other communities throughout the country.


 

We work with the families of rural Cambodian villages to help them achieve sustainability and self-sufficiency through wells, irrigation systems, schools, training and empowerment.

Education

We provide supplementary classes for state school students on similar subjects as their state school but more quality. We also being sure the students learning English Proficiency and Computer technology. We support the community preschool by hiring the preschool teachers to conduct the class and nutrition breakfast or food supplement for preschool kids. We also support our students for higher education through our university scholarship program.

Latrine and Sanitation

With the Rotary support, we delivered more than 1500 Family latrines, which cover more than 25 villages in Pursat Province. Every family also received training on the Hygiene and Sanitation. The families become healthy and be able to participate in their community development.

Clean Water

We provide Bio-Sand water Filter, Water Tank, Water wells, community pond and Training support.

Income Generation

We provide animals such as cow, buffalo, chicken and duck with pass-on model within their own community. The Sewing club recruits the village female or students who droped out from school to get them train to make dress, uniforms, souvenir product and Days for Girls (DfG) Kit. DfG kit is a feminine reusable hygiene pads that could last for more than 5 years.
